A Gentle Reminder

A Gentle Reminder

Sometimes the smallest moments leave the biggest impact.

Recently, I met three people outside of Target—two men and one woman. They were experiencing homelessness, so I offered each of them one of our care bags.

What happened next is something I'll never forget.

One of the men looked at me and quietly said, "God bless you."

It wasn't simply what he said. It was how he said it.

There was such sincerity and gentleness in his voice that it felt less like a casual thank you and more like a heartfelt prayer. It was one of those moments that humbles you and reminds you that kindness has a way of reaching far beyond the gift itself.

The woman had a reaction I'll always remember.

As soon as she received her care bag, her face lit up.

"Oh wow," she said with excitement.

She sat down right there on the ground, carefully took each item out of the bag, and neatly laid everything beside her. Then, before anything else, she opened the bottle of mouthwash and used it.

That simple moment reminded me why every item matters.

It's easy to think of toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, or soap as ordinary things because many of us have them every day. But for someone without reliable access to those essentials, they're not ordinary at all. They're an opportunity to feel refreshed, cared for, and seen.

At The Gentle Pursuit, we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity. That's why we work so hard to provide products we'd feel comfortable using ourselves and to build partnerships that allow us to serve our neighbors with compassion and respect.

That day, I thought I was delivering three care bags.

Instead, those three individuals reminded me why this mission matters so much.

Some of the greatest gifts we receive aren't the ones we give—they're the moments that change our hearts.
